Verizon report finds business email compromise attacks have almost doubled

A cyber security report from Verizon found that business email compromise attacks make up more than half of all social engineering incidents, doubling over the past year. Human error contributed to 74% of all breaches, while external actors were involved in 83% of breaches. The report also noted a rise in ransomware incidents, revealing that the median cost of such attacks has more than doubled to $26,000.
