A new study on the state of cybersecurity for healthcare systems and medical devices in 2023 found a 59% increase in vulnerabilities since the previous year. The research, conducted by Health-ISAC, Finite State, and Securin Inc, surveyed 966 products from 117 manufacturers and vendors. Notably, healthcare IT had the most vulnerabilities. Regular penetration testing and keeping up with updates were recommended for identifying and tackling vulnerabilities. The authors also suggested the use of software bills of material and a security-by-design process in the creation of healthcare products.
