VxWorks OS is vulnerable to remote takeover
A series of critical vulnerabilities have been discovered in Wind River Systems’ VxWorks real-time operating system, affecting devices such as elevators, HVAC systems, and medical equipment. The vulnerabilities, collectively referred to as “URGENT/11,” can allow hackers to remotely take over devices or cause denial of service. Wind River has released patches to resolve the issues, but updates for IoT devices can be time-consuming. The healthcare industry, which heavily relies on these systems, is particularly at risk, emphasizing the need for increased investment in security.
