Watch out – that dream job applicant could actually just be damaging malware

Cybersecurity firm, Proofpoint has warned organisations to be alert for a malicious job applicant, identified as TA4557, which often uses benign emails, attachments or websites to spread malware. The hacker, active since 2018, shares a resume with a downloadable .zip file via a legitimate-looking website which aids in gaining unauthorised access to the victim’s system. The firm advised organisations to educate employees about TA4557’s tactics.
