WatchGuard report reveals decline in malware despite more campaigns
Cybersecurity firm WatchGuard Technologies’ Internet Security Report reveals a rise in double-extortion attacks and exploitation of old software vulnerabilities. It notes a 72% hike in double-extortion attacks, 95% of malware arriving via encrypted connections and a 29% rise in misuse of Windows OS tools. It also disclosed a decline in endpoint malware but warned that malware campaigns expanded. The report underlined the need for a ‘unified security approach’ and constant vigilance to tackle evolving cyber threats.
