‘What Happens Three Months From Now?’ Mental Health After Georgia High School Shooting
After a school shooting in Georgia left four people dead, mental health advocates are concerned about the psychological impact on survivors and the community’s ability to access adequate psychological support. The state, ranking almost last in access to mental health resources, needs at least 13 additional full-time providers in Barrow County alone to address its mental health workforce shortage. Prior to the shooting, the area had one overwhelmed mental health facility around 30 miles away.
