Healthcare organizations continue to be prime targets for cybercriminals due to the high value of personal health information. The number of exposed patient records in healthcare doubled to 42 million from July 2021 to June 2022. Around half of these organizations pay ransom but only 2% manage to recover all breached data. Providers must improve their cybersecurity strategies and conduct an annual security risk assessment to prevent future breaches.
