What’s Behind New Combined Urgent Care-ER Facilities

VHC Health plans to be the first in Virginia to have a joint ER-urgent care facility. The goal is to offer both types of care at one outpatient center, to ease patient uncertainty and alleviate costs. The ER will be open 24/7, with the urgent care operating extended hours including some evenings and weekends. Construction is planned to begin later this year and is estimated to last 18 months.
