Whitefly identified as hacker group behind SingHealth cyberattack, says Symantec
Cybersecurity company Symantec has identified hacker group Whitefly as responsible for Singapore’s largest cyber breach, in which over 1.5 million patient records were stolen between June and July 2018. Whitefly has been operating since at least 2017 and targets organisations primarily based in Singapore across various industries. The group uses custom malware and open-source hacking tools to gain access to sensitive information. The SingHealth breach was not an isolated incident, but part of a pattern of attacks in the region. The Singapore government has identified the hackers but has not disclosed their identity for national security reasons.
