In a prisoner swap between the US and Russia, the US freed journalist Evan Gershkovich and Russian opposition figures, while Russia received, amongst others, two convicted hackers Vladislav Klyushin and Roman Seleznev. Klyushin, founder of M-13, a Moscow IT firm, was accused of using hacked information for insider trading, resulting in massive financial gains. He was arrested in Switzerland in 2021 and later extradited to the US where he was convicted and sentenced to nine years imprisonment.
