WHO unveils effort to fight mpox outbreak

The World Health Organization (WHO) plans to stop outbreaks of mpox, a disease related to smallpox, through a six-month plan from September. The strategy requires $135 million in funding and includes increasing staff, surveillance measures, and prevention and response strategies. Vaccinations will focus on those most at risk, and the plan has also received support from Germany, which donated 100,000 mpox vaccine doses and additional financial resources.
