World Council of Churches subjected to ransomware attack

The World Council of Churches fell victim to a ransomware attack on 26 December, which has since been attributed to the Rhysida ransomware operation. The hackers are demanding $280,000 in Bitcoin from member organisation the Lutheran World Foundation, threatening to release stolen data within a week. This follows Rhysida’s attacks on US, Chilean, Kuwaiti and Portuguese bodies.
