The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) criticized Google’s decision to stop the deprecation of third-party cookies, expressing concerns over privacy. W3C believes third-party cookies enable user tracking and could breach privacy and lead to unwanted surveillance. Collaborations with Google’s Chrome Privacy Sandbox team to develop alternatives to cookies, W3C said, were undermined by Google’s decision. It has urged Google to reconsider and to commit to removing third-party cookies.
